MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD IN 2009:

REMEMBERING THE YEAR THAT HAS GONE BY: TIME TO THINK OF WHERE WE ARE SPIRITUALLY

1 Corinthians 11:28 A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.

It is around this time of year we tend to do some thinking about the year that has gone by. As Christians much of that should be centered around our relationship with God. Our theme from last year was experiencing God in 2008. So the question to consider is have you experienced God more in 2008 or have you fallen short of your goals and objectives. Maybe we have had are moments last year were God was doing amazing things in our life, but then there were times we know our response to God was not as passionate.

REMEMBERING COMMUNION: TIME TO BE THANKFUL FOR CHRIST'S SACRIFICE

1 Corinthians 11:24-25 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."(NIV)

As we come to the end of the year, so often we look back with regret on things we did not accomplish, or resolutions long forgotten. But sin is one thing we should never need to look back on with feelings of failure. If we have confessed our sins and asked God's forgiveness we simply need to keep a forward focus toward the goal of pleasing Christ.

REMEMBERING TO MOVE FORWARD: TIME TO BE PROCLAIM HIS DEATH UNTIL HE COMES AGAIN

1 Corinthians 11:26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.(NIV)
