Luke 11:1 "One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." (NIV)
What Jesus modeled they desired for themselves. I believe they saw the importance of this in Christ's life. They recognized that from out of his time of prayer, came the strength to do the Fathers will. We see that evident in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus did what the disciples failed to do. He prayed.
Jesus told his disciples, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." (NIV)
The disciples needed to being pray so that they were prepared to face what would take place in that very garden were they were sleeping. May we awaken from our sleep and begin to pray.
Jesus said this in all four of the gospel writers record this Old Testament passage from Isaiah 56:7 Mark 11:17 says , "My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations"
Here Jesus reminds us what is suppose to be happening in His Father's House. There will be the preaching of the Word of God and there will be Worship, but all of this must flow out of prayer. We at Bethel are making a point that this year in 2010 everything that we do will flow out of prayer. We are going to increase the amount of time we are spending in prayer. We are going to pray with greater sincerity, more specifically and unselfishly. We are going to believe for God to Breakthrough in 2010. Would you join with us as we pray.
